洛杉磯地區今（8）日吹起乾燥又強勁的離岸風勢，使得發生在太平洋斷崖的一場火災失控蔓延，從附近區域可以明顯看見濃煙。有關當局已經發出了撤離令，數萬居民緊急撤離。受到風勢影響，濃煙籠罩了太平洋斷崖高級社區的上空，居民陸續從家中緊急撤離，與進入救災的消防人員交錯而過，造成交通堵塞。

「太平洋斷崖」這個高級社區座落在聖塔蒙尼加山脈與太平洋之間，背山面海，享有絕佳的美景。這個區域住著許多好萊塢名人與政商名流，已故影集「六人行」演員馬修派瑞（Matthew Perry）住家就在這一個區域。

目前，加州州長紐森（Gavin Newsom）已宣佈洛杉磯進入「緊急狀態」，居民從山腰往下撤離，聚集在太平洋海岸高速公路附近，很多人困在車陣之中，也有人終於與家人見面而相擁流淚。

數萬名民眾被迫在火海中撤離

火勢快速蔓延的主因是強勁的風勢。國家氣象局今天發出最嚴重等級的「紅旗」強風警報，乾燥而強勁的離岸風，風速可達每小時35到60英里，預計今日晚間至明日，洛杉磯最強陣風將達每小時100英里，成近十年來南加州遭遇最強的風。

《紐約時報》也指出，南加州自去（2024）5月以來極度乾燥，大部分地區幾乎沒有降雨，雨量是自1877年以來，第二低的紀錄。再加上夏季經歷的極度高溫，使地形乾燥，植被枯萎，才會讓該地區極易發生火災。
