2028
ARD is an official broadcaster of the UEFA Euro 2028 in Germany, acquiring the rights to this tournament in January 2025. As a result, fans in Germany can watch select Euro 2028 games live for free on ARD, a public broadcaster.
The list of matches available on ARD includes the 2028 UEFA European Championship opener, semi-finals, and the final, as well as all games involving the German national team, should they qualify for the competition.

2022-2028
Germany’s UEFA Nations League matches are shown on ARD’s regional channels as part of a joint broadcasting deal with ZDF valid through the 2027-28 season. The agreement covers 30 national team fixtures, including all UEFA Nations League games played by Germany and the 2026 World Cup and Euro 2028 qualifiers.

2025-2029
ARD has retained the rights to broadcast free-to-air Bundesliga highlights in Germany for the 2025-26 to 2028-29 seasons. With this four-year agreement, the public-service broadcaster showcases Saturday’s first airing of Bundesliga highlights on free TV. In addition, ARD also airs German top-flight highlights on Fridays and Sundays.

Das Erste history, coverage, features
Das Erste is a national free-to-air television channel in Germany, owned by ARD. It is operated by the nine regional public broadcasting members of the ARD. The channel was first launched in 1952 but has undergone a couple of branding changes. It was first called NWDR-Fernsehen before changing to Deutsches Fernsehen in 1954. It was in 1966 that it officially became known as Das Erste.While it is available on free-to-air television, users in Germany can live stream the channel for free via ARD Mediathek. This is available via a web browser and as a downloadable app on iOS and Android devices. Over the years, Das Erste has shown live coverage of international football tournaments, including the FIFA World Cup and UEFA European Championships. Bundesliga highlights and magazine shows have also featured. All programming on Das Erste is in German.
