RDS, short for "Réseau des sports," is a French-language sports channel based in Canada and owned by CTV Specialty Television Inc. Since its launch in September 1989, RDS has served as the go-to broadcaster for a wide array of sports and competitions, catering to French-speaking sports fans across the nation. It is the French-language counterpart to the English-language TSN, with RDS2 and RDS Info its sister channels.

RDS has broadcast major sports competitions and events since its launch. These include National Hockey League games featuring the Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators, along with the NHL All-Star Game and Skills Contest. In addition to hockey, the Canadian Football League (CFL), National Football League (NFL), National Basketball Association (NBA), Formula 1, UFC fights, and the PGA Tour have all featured on RDS.

The channel has also broadcast soccer since launching, including Major League Soccer (MLS) matches involving Canadian clubs. Tournaments such as the Leagues Cup, La Liga, and major FIFA events like the World Cup and Women’s World Cup have also made it to RDS’ airwaves, though broadcast rights, which are subject to change, dictate whether these competitions are available on the platform.

RDS is available in both standard and high definition, enhancing the viewing experience for sports fans. The high-definition channel was introduced in October 2007, coinciding with the opening game of the Montreal Canadiens’ 2007-2008 season.

As a subscription-based service, RDS offers access through the RDS app, offering the ability to stream its programming anytime, anywhere. The platform is also accessible via various third-party TV providers, including Bell TV, Rogers Cable, and Telus Optik TV.
