Canal Plus maintains its non-exclusive French-language broadcast rights to the UEFA Champions League in sub-Saharan Africa from 2024 to 2027 following a three-year extension deal with UEFA. The pay-TV provider has the first pick of all Champions League games played on Wednesdays and the 2024-25, 2025-26, and 2026-27 editions of the Champions League final.

2027-2031
CANAL+ has secured exclusive UEFA Europa League broadcast rights in Sub-Saharan Africa for the first time, striking this historic deal for the 2027-2031 TV cycle in August 2026. Not only is the pay-TV provider the exclusive Europa League rights holder, but CANAL+ also secured the exclusive French, English, and Portuguese-language rights to Europe’s second-tier men’s club competition in the region.

2027-2031
Football fans in Sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in Francophone countries, can watch the UEFA Conference League exclusively in French on the Canal+ Sport Afrique channels after securing the rights to this competition for the first time in August 2026.
This multi-year rights deal is also a multi-tournament agreement, granting Canal+ the rights to UEFA’s other men’s continental club competitions, namely the UEFA Champions League and the Europa League.

2024-2027
Canal Plus has extended its non-exclusive French-language LaLiga media rights in multiple African territories until 2027. The commercial TV broadcaster’s contract covers the 2024-25 through the 2026-27 LaLiga seasons. It includes the following countries: Algeria, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mayotte, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Reunion, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

2023-2028
Canal Plus continues its linear and digital coverage of the Bundesliga in multiple African territories from 2023 to 2028 following a multi-year extension. The commercial broadcaster first secured French-language rights to the Bundesliga in 2020 in a deal that covered the 2020-21 through the 2022-23 seasons.

2024-2029
Canal Plus Afrique has secured the broadcast rights for Ligue 1 in French-speaking Sub-Saharan Africa for an additional five years, covering the 2024-25 to 2028-29 seasons. This deal extends the pay-TV broadcaster’s previous six-year agreement from 2018-19 to 2023-24, valued at reportedly $95.4 million per season.
