Garden without caring....

I seldom attend the garden these past few weeks. Plants are left to survive on their own. Let me share with you a  picture.....

My compose area is almost full. Can you see the tomato plant wilting due to mealy bug attack!  Pumpkin is growing wild and pudina is overflowing!

Last week i did some gardening but this part of garden is still un-touched! This is what will happen when gardening go wild!

I don't have to mention the name if you see the leaves. Anyway at least now the lemon have bounce back with some volume! Last time it was so 'botak' without leaves!

I didn't really planted this tree! may be i ate the fruit and throw the avacado seed in the garden sometimes ago. Suprisingly the seed germinated and have grow up now!

From what i know Avacado is a big tree! I don't think it's suitable for my garden if it's too huge. Anyone have experience planting avacado? i don't have the heart to uproot the tree......Hmm..... let's see the progress!

Bunch of Kangkung (water spinach)

The Kangkung bed was initially shared between Kangkung, tomatoes and beans. Now as i have stop growing tomatoes, Kangkung have taken the whole raise bed! The beans are nowhere to be seen! May be it died due to lack of sunlight or due to my ignorance! Lately i seldom attend the garden. The garden is in big mess. I need to do something but time is the limitation...

Anyway my kangkung is happily growing. Grasshoppers have tasted the leaves i guess but still many more for my weekend cooking!

Henna

Henna (Lawsonia inermis) is a flowering plant used since antiquity to dye skin, hair, fingernails, leather and wool.

Henna is a tall shrub or small tree, 2.6 m high. It is glabrous, multi branched with spine tipped branchlets. Leaves are opposite, entire, glabrous, sub-sessile, elliptical, and broadly lanceolate (1.5–5.0 cm x 0.5–2 cm), acuminate, having depressed veins on the dorsal surface. Henna flowers have four sepals and a 2 mm calyx tube with 3 mm spread lobes. Petals are obvate, white or red stamens inserted in pairs on the rim of the calyx tube. Ovary is four celled, style up to 5 mm long and erect. Fruits are small, brownish capsules, 4–8 mm in diameter, with 32–49 seeds per fruit, and open irregularly into four splits.

For skin dyeing, a paste of ground henna (either prepared from a dried powder or from fresh ground leaves) is placed in contact with the skin from a few hours to overnight. Henna stains can last a few days to a month depending on the quality of the paste, individual skin type, and how long the paste is allowed to stay on the skin.

( from Wikipedia)

I planted this henna branch just for fun but when i see the new leaves emerging i feel so happy! May be i can decorate my hand soon with the paste ! My mother use too tell us that using henna can make the fingernail look healthy!

Mango Tree

I remember when i first planted this tree. It was so small with 10 - 12 leaves and stay as it is for about 1 year! I thought it's not going to grow anymore. The growth have stunt since my soil is not so good. As for last option before discarding the tree, i chop off one of the branch. I put a lot of fertilizer and mulch every week.

After 2-3 months it started putting up a lot of leaves. Now it's growing so lushly. I think for a year it was strengthening the root. It took so long to adapt but now it's worth all the effort! I hope it will bear some fruits! Yummy!

Carrot

I never plant Carrot before and i use to think it's cool climate plants until i find this garden blogging world! I think carrot is quiet demanding actually. May be for me. Out of 10 seeds, only 2 germinated and i place them in plastic container since i don't have any pot available at the moment. How to know if carrot is ready for harvest? How long it takes?

First time with Radish and Carrot

This is my first attempt with Radish.  All my radish seeds germinated luckily. The radish that i harvested was small but enough for 1 meal!

Since they need loose soil, i planted them in pots.
