Corn - another try....

This is my 4th time with corn. I don't knw if I have luck this time. Monkeys always get it first. Anyway to avoid it, I always pluck it young and cook as vegetable.

The seeds packet wrote that it's very sweet and juicy but I don't think I will have the chance...... Do I? Can I beg the monkeys to leave my garden alone......;(

Mango tree putting up more leaves!

Mango tree that I planted from seed has put up many more leaves and has started to branching out.

Chillies Update

I have another productive plant after winged beans! A single chilli plant in my garden is producing a lot of chillies. I have too many until I do not know how to use it. I plan to blend them and use for 'sambal' cooking. I do not know if the taste is similar to blended dry chillies paste taste but I will try. At time we put some assumption in our work so I assume chillies are same whether dried or not....hahhaha....

Roselle have new bed for them this time. I have planted 4 of them. If everything goes well I shall have juices to drink by next month! Thinking of Roselle juice make me salivating! hahhaha.... It's been a while since I tasted them.

The Pest!

I do not need to explain more. The pictures have more explanation on it! The 'very resistant' pest!

cabbage - 2nd time

I never had luck with first havest of cabbage this time. Monkeys tasted them. I chop the left over head of cabbage. Currently there are 3 head forming. I believe it will be a small one but it's ok to have it than never.

As tomatoes, cabbage taste so good fresh from garden! 

Broccoli have added a lot of leaves. It's time to harvest them too since it will bolt soon due to hot weather here. The leaves taste good when saute with garlic and ginger!

Green beans

After so long, finally I manage to harvest few green beans! I should say I'm satisfied with few beans as before this for about 8 months I never really have luck with green beans!

There are many flowers and little beans dangling around. I hope I can harvest enough this time from 3 plants!

GBBD - February 2012

The weather nowadays is not easy to forecast. When I was young, I know the monsoon season will start from October till early January. After that rain will be on and off. But now, things have change so much. I feel that Monsoon start late in November and it continues all year long.... We can't predict when is hot spell time anymore.

Plants seems to enjoy rain and hot sun in this tropical weather but they too suffer from un-predictable weather. Anyway I have some pretty bloom for GBBD this month.

14th February is very famous day. Many celebration and gathering will be planned. Many couples go for Candlelite dinner and have a lot of lovable time together!

Daun Pandan getting stronger

Pandan have been around in my garden for about 4 months. Previously it was sharing the bed with Roselle. As the Roselle dry up, the whole bed is for Pandan. It look better now. More leaves have been added.

Pandan is used a lot in Asian cooking. I use them in cake, kuih ( asian dessert) and even while cooking rice. The Aroma is really refreshing.

Do you use Pandan in your cooking?

At the same time, some of you have asked for Roselle seeds. I just want to check if the seeds have reach you?! ;)

Tomato seedlings

It's been quiet some time since I grow tomatoes. It's really nice to see little tomatoes dangling around. Tomatoes from own garden taste so good! totally different from the one we buy in market! Don't you agree with me?

My new little tomato seedling have been transplanted to the ground. Hope they do well. 

Lady's finger

Lady's finger is a must in my garden. This time I manage to grow 8 of them. They grow very fast and fruit very soon too! And as nature process dry up quiet soon too. I have enough lady's finger for cooking. I'm really happy about it.

Yesterday I saute them with garlic, ginger and curry leaves. They taste heaven, fresh from the garden.

winged beans -ageing process

After 2 months of full beans production, winged beans now facing the ageing process. The leaves have turn yellow and some kind of infection on the leaves. The flowers have reduce so much and very few pods available. Soon the place will be cleared for new vegetables. I haven't decide what to be planted at that area but some vegetables for sure.

I read somewhere that the young leaves and the root is edible. Anyone have tasted them?

Yesterday I saw a lot of this bugs on my pucuk manis vegetable. They were everywhere. This bugs does not fly. It just crawl around. Do you know what is this?

The beauty in Bitter gourd

I seldom have time to really sit and see my plants in detail. Most of them time that I have, is only time to water them or doing weeding.

When i think of beauty in plants, I always go for flowering plants but yesterday while looking out for caterpillar I realize that vegetables do have a beauty in them.

Look at the bitter gourd leaves, flower, tendril and fruits! Each have art in them! Don't you agree with me?
