The Luteola

2 years ago I bought 2 pots of luteola. It was very small plant, may be just about 22cm height. Now Luteola have grown big.

The most interesting thing I like about this plant is the flowers. It has a yellow star shaped flowers with off white sepal. They look so unique.

Propagation of this plant can be done by semi wood cutting or air layering but so far I have no luck yet.

This plant require full sun. If you have space under the sun, try planting Luteola. It attack butterflies and humming birds to your garden!

So far no pest but I read somewhere that be aware of whiteflies.

Harvest of weekend!

I love weekend! I think every working people love weekend!

I love weekend for few reasons and one of it, is for harvesting time. Weekend is my only time I focus in the garden. I do weeding, tend the plant, even find all the pest and the damage done by them! I harvest most of my vegetables for cooking too!
My last angle loofah. The plant is almost dead. I just sow the new seeds yesterday!

The chillies. We call them 'cili padi' in Malay!

Bitter gourd. I harvested 6 of them altogether! The best harvest so far! 2 already fried on Sunday!

Tomatoes update!

Tomatoes which I started with 3 plants, sadly has reduce to 1 plant. The other 2 started wilting and I have to pull them away.

This single tomato has start to produce flowers. Look at their delicate yellow flowers! Don't they look so promising? I hope so.... hahhahaa....

GBBD - July 2012

I'm late again for GBBD July but The garden is in full bloom now!  I think I should share this beauties with you all!

I have a lot of flowers but very little time to enjoy them. Nevertheless I took photos of them to enjoy later! ;)

Cabbage - an update

Cabbages are beautiful leafy vegetables. They can serve as an ornamental plant too until the head is form.

Currently I have 3 cabbages in my vegetable bed. 2 are growing without any problem but one is showing indication like burn symptoms.....I do not know if I have throw some fertilizer towards the leaves or what but the whole green leaves shows burn sign....sigh......

avocado Update

avocado tree is growing up proportional to the days! Sounds like engineering term but that's the word I can find to describe this tree. It's slow growing but over the years you can see the growth!

Anyone out there has a Avocado tree? I read somewhere that it take 5-6 years for the tree to grow big and another few years until it can produce fruits! That's a long wait......

The beans

Green beans have produce few flowers and few beans too. Look at how cute the little beans are!

bitter gourd

These bitter gourd vines germinated from the seeds I throw in compost area. I transfer them to vegetable bed and gave some support. By luck they have grown nicely.

The bitter gourd have produce few fruits for now. I use to slice them thin and soak it in the mixture of salt, turmeric and chili powder. After half and hour I will fry them. They are very crispy and tasty even though the bitter taste is still available.

Indian vegetable

Today I'm going to introduce famous Indian vegetable. It's called "Ponnakani Keerai" in tamil. I'm not sure the name of this plant in English or Bahasa Malaysia. It's used in Indian cooking and valued for the richness of vitamins!

This vegetables provide and maintain good vision and rich with iron as well as Vitamin C.

Indians use to blend it together with spinach to do vegetable curry or "keerai curry" in Tamil or you can saute like Pak choy.

Anyone know the name?

Green Beans

I always treat green bean with full care. Mainly because it's very sensitive plant for me. I use to sow many seeds with only few germinate. Some dies soon after I transplant to the vegetable bed. In the end I will have 2 -3 plants to produce me green beans.

It doesn't stop there, soon caterpillars will attack the plant from nowhere.....As a result I only plant them when I have time.

Currently I have 4 green beans climbing the trellis.

Mango tree

The Mango tree seems to grow well outside my house. It's more that my height now. It's fun to see how a seed germinate and grow to become a big tree!
